Directly at the beach, good service, small place.
Only big resorts around, no shops and restaurants, but you reach the town after a 40-minutes-walk at the beach.
Wonderful natural setting in the middle of resorts. Quiet and very well kept.
The cabanas and especially "our" cabana are very picturesque, beach is few steps away, there are sun-beds and palapas available for guests. In general the place is for people which value more beautiful view and "etno" kind of surrounding than luxury. However a car is a must - Puerto Morelos with groceries and restaurants is too far away to go on foot.
Too expensive breakfast, no fridge in the room
Not much, but the beach has white sand along with alot of seaweed, and no snorketling unless you pay for the trip. Nice sunsets and sunrises, very little rain.
Not a good value, it's basically a dump with sand everywhere so it gets in your room. Not real restaurant, you have to ask for food and it is poor and quite overpriced. You have to have a car, really far and too hot to walk the beach. All-inclusive resorts are close on both sides and noisy, but you can't purchase food there, closest place is a mile away. Even potable water is expensive and needed right away. Best to bring cooler and ice with all drinks and food you will need for the duration. For $65 we had a noisy fan, needed for sure day and night so you cannot hear the breeze or surf sounds as I'd hoped. Owner was asked to arrange a snorkeling tour but she didn't. Will not go back.
Excellent location with wonderful sand beach and kept nice and simple without all the fancy big hotel beach fixtures. Very laid back atmosphere and setting. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Perfect spot to arrive to after a late flight in. Quaint Cabanas but very basic.
A bit pricy for what the accommodation is but definitely paying for the beach location which was worth it.
The beach is beautiful and the hotel is peaceful. There is a small kitchen that was available for use, which made breakfast a lot easier! The owners are kind and attentive. Water pressure was great and the hot water was hot.
I was disappointed that the hotel was so far out of town, too far to walk with little kids. While the hotel was clean, the bedding was worn and of the two mattresses in our room, one was comfortable, and you could feel the mattress coils of the other. Some fresh paint and a beach shower (or at least a place to wash one's feet) would help. First impressions matter, and when you arrive, you see a large run down parking area. For not much money, the area could be leveled, paved or covered in pavers and some low water plantings could be added. Right now it looks little better than a cleared abandoned lot.
This place is about half an hour walk from the village of Puerto Morelos, which leaves it with a nice clean beach right outside of your cabanas. Although it is definitely not a remote location (it is sitting right between two large resorts), it is a perfect stop right next to Cancun if you need to spend a night or a day right after/right before your flight. Cabins are clean and colorful. You are right on the beach, you are the waves and the birds. Comfortable and pleasant. Staff are nice. There is a place in the cabanas to order a drink and simple food (tacos or quesadillas). Convenient. Being right on the beach in a place so close to Cancun is the main advantage for the money you'll be paying.
The place is amazing and it feels like it should be located in a remote area for perfect relaxation. It is, however, set between two large resorts, so it is not a remote location at all.
We like being steps away from the beach. Although the hotel is surrounded by large resorts, it was quiet and tranquil. Although the cabanas are rustic, they are clean. The staff is friendly and helpful.
The rooms are a bit small, and there are minimal electrical plugs and lights. Also the WIFI can be unpredictable. Also, the walk into the village is long, so unless you have a bike or car, you'll need to walk the beach or pay for a taxi.
We stayed there so we could fly out from Cancun the next day, as it is just 18 km to the airport. It is on the beach sandwiched between bigger more resort-like places.
The room did not have a bathroom and the common bathroom lacks much in the way of privacy. The place is what is is, sort of a hostel more than a hotel. Fine for a night at the price.
These cute rustic cabanas provide value but still meet your vacation needs...the property is tucked amazingly between two upscale resorts and is a gem for relaxing lounging under the oceanside palapas or in hammocks, and ocean dips just meters away on the same property. The owner/operator is so hospitable and helpful. A quick taxi (90 pesos) gets you into the village of Puerto Morelos for other services, tourist, recreation, dining, etc. shopping etc. or groceries (there's a little VERY basic kitchette available for a daily fee) I would surely return.
The staff were very nice and I loved their dog.The location by the ocean is absolutely charming and beautiful.
The beach here was beautiful , we met some great people staying here and the local town had great character .
The place was more run down than expected and was really disappointed when we checked out that the owner sprung an extra £40 charge for using the kitchen as she hadn't mentioned any cost when she said we could use it for the kids, and it was badly equipped and filthy.
Right on the beach, AC, 30 min walk on the beach into town. Staff was helpful. Free Wi-fi, good connection.
Dark, cave like room. Sheets felt damp, probably from humidity. However it served its purpose for us needing a cheap place at this location. Not a whole lot to do there other than swim and sun bathe.
Friendly owner and close proximity to sea. Very quiet.
No shops/restaurant nearby.
Location, location, location! Tme-tested Acamaya Reef is sandwiched between two ritzy and high priced all-inclusive luxury resorts. It's been on the beach now for over 25 years and while it shows some wear and tear, the location just can't be beat. Nor the price. Our cabana was clean and airy with a hammock just outside. The beach was at our front door, too. Don't leave food out or the ants will have a feast before you know it.
